International Dot Day 2020 Activity: Connecting the Dots

International Dot Day 2020 is going to probably look different from any previous celebrations. Due to Covid-19, we may be celebrating away from our students, but we want to assure you that the celebration will go on!
For this celebration, we’ve selected the theme “Connecting the Dots!” It is important for all of us to feel a connection because we are “All In This Together!”
In May, the Reynolds Center/FableVision lost our dear Dot Connector, Bill Norris. Bill LOVED Dot Day! From organizing celebrations in Dedham, MA at the Blue Bunny Bookstore, to making sure we virtually connected with schools across the globe. Bill was a Dot Connector.
This year we have designed an activity that will both make kids feel connected and remind us of our beloved Bill.
We’ve designed two International Dot Day “connected dots” templates. Click on the images below to download the template.

The first is Instagram ready and the second is designed to be printed on a piece of paper. We encourage you to make your own dot and then draw arrows to connect with other dots. When placed in a grid, the dots will be connected. Through this project we hope to show that event apart, we can create dots, take pictures, and virtually connect,
Here’s the idea:
Download a template and create your dot (digital or on the printed sheet).
Upload a photo or the digital dot to a social media platform and tag @dotclubconnect on twitter; @internationdotday on IG, or our Facebook page.
To add your mark to the Dot Day grid, please use the hashtag #InternationalDotDay and because Bill was also a source of light in the world, please also use #DotsforLight.
The soft dashed lines will connect the dots virtually because, we’re all in this together!

On September 15-ish, students, teachers, schools, and communities will celebrate International Dot Day.
