Peter H. Reynolds Visits Los Angeles with a Message of Support and Hope

During Keynote at Major Education Event in Los Angeles, Reynolds Announces Donation of 500 Copies of The Dot to Students Impacted by Fires

Best-selling author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds recently deliveredd the keynote address at the IGNITE Ed Tech Symposium, a premier event uniting hundreds of educators and leaders from the Southern California educational community. Known around the globe for his beloved book The Dot and other award-winning “storybooks for all ages,” Reynolds shared his insights on creativity, resilience, and the power of stories to inspire change.

During the symposium, Reynolds announced a donation of over 500 hardcover copies of The Dot to students in communities severely impacted by the recent Los Angeles fires. This generous contribution, made possible in partnership with Candlewick Press, the American Red Cross, and kidSTREAM Museum in Ventura County, aims to support children and educators as they rebuild their schools, libraries, and lives.

“My heart is with the students, teachers, librarians, and school leaders who have experienced loss and trauma over the past weeks - and will need support for years to come,” said Peter H. Reynolds. “My hope is that The Dot inspires the courage and creativity needed to imagine and rebuild the kind of climate-resilient communities we will need in the years and decades ahead.”

Reynolds also created a piece of art to express his support for those suffering in Los Angeles called “Raining Love on L.A.”  His Boston-based nonprofit Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning and Creativity is now raising funds through the sale of the print, and directing proceeds to schools and libraries that lost books during the recent fires.

Reynolds is also working with Scholastic, which publishes many of his best-selling storybooks,  to provide additional support with a global webcast, where he will announce additional efforts underway to provide comfort and resources as libraries and educational communities rebuild.

After Reynolds’ keynote address at the IGNITE Ed Tech Symposium, he traveled north with the team from his educational support company FableVision Learning where made school visits and hosted several Create Bravely Family Nights, which brought local communities together to celebrate and cultivate creativity.
