You’re invited to celebrate International Dot Day at The Met in NYC!

Come join the in-person audience at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to celebrate International Dot Day 2022 on September 15th, hosted by New York Times best-selling Author/Illustrator Peter H. Reynolds and his twin brother Paul.

The event will be held at The Met's acclaimed Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium, which has hosted a myriad of celebrated performers, from Isaac Stern in 1954 for the inaugural concert program, to Judy Collins, Izthak Perlman, Laurie Anderson, and Sting.

Participants are asked to arrive at the Met at 12 pm ET to allow for getting to the theater and seating prior to the 12:30pm show start for the in-person event. The virtual show begins at 1pm and will last 40 minutes - followed by a special presentation for the live audience that will last another 15 minutes; wrapping up by 1:55 p.m.

Book signing to follow the show.

Masks are encouraged, but not required.

More details…

Peter Reynolds will be reading from The Dot book, which inspired Dot Day, the global celebration of creativity, which has been celebrated by over 22 million teachers, librarians and students in 197 countries. The award-winning picture book, now translated in over 25 languages, features a perceptive and caring teacher who inspires Vashti - a reluctant student who thinks she can’t draw - by encouraging her to be brave enough to “just make a mark and see where it takes you.”

The Met event will include the world-premiere, sneak peek preview of DOT DOT DOT: A New Musical - an exciting new musical being developed by TheatreWorksUSA - based on the trio of Peter H. Reynolds' award-winning picture books, The Dot, Ish and Sky Color. Adapted by Keelay Gipson and Sam Salmond, the musical, like the series, celebrates the power of originality, self-expression, and opening our eyes to look beyond the expected.

As a bonus presented exclusively to the live audience, Reynolds will share the animated short film adaptation of his book Ish, which was co-produced by Reynolds' Boston-based children's media company FableVision and Scholastic Weston Woods. Three schools who attend either the live or virtual event will have a chance to win a year-long subscription to the film, along with nine other animated film adaptations of Reynolds' picture books, which are now available for schools and libraries through the Peter H. Reynolds Collection: Stories That Move.

Thanks to Microsoft Flip, the event will also be livestreamed to over 100 countries around the globe, and translated in real-time into eight languages as well as American Sign Language. The livestream event is free and open to all.
