Coding with a Splash: Integrating Computational Thinking into Early Childhood Play

This interactive workshop is designed to equip early childhood educators with the tools and strategies to seamlessly incorporate coding concepts into their students' everyday play experiences. Participants will explore the power of computational thinking and discover how it can enhance problem-solving skills, creativity, and logical reasoning in young children.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the basics of computational thinking and its relevance in early childhood education.

  • Explore practical strategies for integrating coding concepts into various play-based activities.

  • Develop a toolkit of engaging coding-inspired projects and games for the classroom.

  • Learn how to foster a growth mindset and encourage computational thinking in young learners.

By the end of this workshop, participants will have a solid understanding of how to integrate coding into their early childhood classrooms and have created materials for their classrooms, empowering them to nurture young learners' computational thinking skills and prepare them for a future driven by technology.

Workshop participants are asked to bring a device (computer/tablet). Massachusetts teachers will receive two hours of PDP.

Cost: $25/person

TLC Studios is located at 390 Washington Street in Dedham, Ma. There is easy, free parking at Keystone Lot (10 Eastern Ave.).
