ISTE Interactive session - Be You: Building Belonging Through Storytelling

Join Paul Reynolds, CEO FableVision/Reynolds TLC, Jessica Pack, Teacher at James Workman Middle School, Author and Speaker, and Georgia Terlaje, Instructional Coach, Palm Springs Unified School District, for an interactive session at ISTE focused on SEL and storytelling.

The session titled, “Be You: Building Belonging Through Storytelling” will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (MT) in room 403/4.

Building a sense of belonging anchors students to school and combats chronic absenteeism. Learn how to merge technology, literature, and student creativity to promote social-emotional learning. By harnessing the power of several mentor texts, students will embark on a journey of self-expression and collaboration through moviemaking.

This session aims to provide educators with a powerful blend of strategies to infuse Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) principles into their classrooms through the engaging medium of storytelling. By leveraging the power of moviemaking and mentor texts like "Be You" and "The Best Part of Me," we will explore how this unique approach can enhance student engagement, build belonging, and promote equity in diverse educational contexts.

By the end of this session, attendees will have gained the knowledge and practical experience needed to integrate SEL principles into their classrooms through the use of moviemaking. They will leave with concrete strategies, resources, and a deeper understanding of how storytelling and technology can contribute to student growth and emotional well-being.
